The pepperoni on pizza is always cooked and can be found in stores that serve cooked varieties.
Although pepperoni is raw, it is safe to eat without cooking as it involves curing and fermentation. These processes have been used for centuries to preserve meat.
Is Pepperoni Raw?
There is a difference between raw sausage and pepperoni. It can not be considered cooked because it doesn’t undergo any heating processes.
When used as a pizza topping or added to other dishes, pepperoni can be cooked in the oven, making it curly up nice and crisp.
A reasonable question arises, can you eat raw pepperoni?
Unless the packaging clearly states that it is made from 100% beef, it is unlikely that you will find a mix of beef and pork in Pepperoni.
